Have you always wanted to write but do not have the time to go on a residential course? Then a correspondence course could well be the answer.
Upon receipt of your completed application form, your tutor will contact you by telephone to establish your aims, objectives and an appropriate timescale for the course.
You will then receive and complete your assignments by email, or by post if you wish. You will receive your tutor’s comments by email within one week. You are guaranteed to receive feedback that is constructive, positive, supportive and that will enable you to create the work you want to create.
The pace at which you work is up to you — we suggest you aim to complete an assignment a week, but there is no time pressure. Please contact us for more information about course content and price.
This is an introductory course which aims to give you a ‘taster’ of various kinds of writing in different styles. The aim is to begin to find your own voice and your own direction.
In this course you will look at using a notebook, sourcing ideas and how to turn those ideas into short prose. You will start to look at characterization, dialogue, plotting in fiction and experiment with writing poetry if you wish.
By the end of the course, you should have completed a short story and/or a series of poems. You may decide you want to concentrate on either fiction or poetry, or try some of both – this will be negotiated with your tutor as you progress.
